At the start of play yesterday, Roger Federer had already equalled Ivan Lendl’s record for most Grand Slam finals ever reached. By the end, he had matched Pete Sampras for the most Grand Slam titles ever won. As if that’s not pleasantly exciting enough, Federer will have the chance to break both records next month at Wimbledon — and he’s favored to do so, what with Nadal’s tweaked knee.
Last year Jennifer and I semi-camped out at the All England Club — “semi” because we arrived at 3am and slept a few hours on the ground wrapped in a jacket — before the stewards woke us, politely, with an official queue card. This year, we plan to do it right. I’ll probably get the tent pictured below as it’s inexpensive, assembles in two seconds, and fits two people comfortably (or three in a pinch). We’ll get a throw-away BBQ set and a bottle of hard refreshment each. Anyone have any pointers? Anyone want to join??
