Really enjoyed watching Milk with Jennifer tonight. We learned about the Twinkie defense whereby a murderer escapes justice because of depression, a common symptom of which is binging on junk food.
Was Harvey Milk’s assassination that surprising? Even he understood that his brand of honest activism induced fear, paranoia, and hatred within a certain segment of society. While I fully understand how Twinkies might induce one to kill, I don’t sympathize with the jury’s decision in this case. But then, I’m no lawyer.
We also learned that the deep-fried Twinkie was invented in England. Why am I not surprised?
