As a generally healthy, active, young person, I was not too worried about my risk of contracting swine flu until the television told me this morning that we are all going to die. Since 17 people have died in the UK from the virus, the virus is, apparently, unstoppable.
Yesterday there were more than 7,400 confirmed cases of swine flu in the UK. If the number of cases continues to grow at the current pace, the UK could have 100,000 new cases every day by the end of August. So far, most swine flu patients have suffered only mild symptoms. However, they are still be urged to stay away from GP surgeries or hospitals if they suspect they have the flu. The latest victim lived in South London. Source: Daily MailBut what??? The television now tells me not to alarm! There is no reason to panic about a killer virus! All we must do is just be vigilant in tackling this threat. I’ve heard that advice before:
College teachers must be “vigilant” in tackling the threat posed by violent extremists who attempt to recruit teenage students to terrorism, ministers said yesterday. Al Qaeda supporters seek to “groom” impressionable young people and staff should be prepared to tell the police if they have concerns, draft Government guidance said.
