Here is a collection of whiteboards I’ve made over the year or so. I am a project manager and design strategist for a web company. Over the past three years I have developed skills which should prove transferable to a future role in a field closer to my academic areas interest: politics, society and media of the Middle East.
Probably the most employable skill of mine is ideation or the process of generating, developing and communicating ideas. Given a set of project requirements, it’s been my responsibility to take whatever resources are available, forumulate a plan of action, and see it through to the end. Ideation is needed every single day; it’s inevitable that people will hit a snag, need a nudge, prefer a fresh perspective.
Every idea is valid. Trial and error is encouraged. Frequent but small iterations keep the project on target. Whiteboards are used extensively.
